How to Spruce up Your IKEA Furniture
IKEA furniture is stylish and affordable. There are so many wonderful pieces that IKEA sells for your home. But you can also spruce up your IKEA furniture, hack it and change it too!
IKEA has some lovely pieces of furniture and items for your home. The majority already look great and will take pride of place in your home.
But what if you want to change your piece of IKEA furniture? What if you want to upgrade it to make it look better? What if you want to make it look different & unique? Or what if you just want to ‘spruce’ it up?
One of the great things about IKEA furniture and products is that they can be spruced up, upgraded, and changed.
IKEA hacks are one of the biggest sensations across Pinterest and the Internet. They take an existing piece of IKEA furniture or an IKEA product, and change it into something else.

What is an IKEA Hack?
An IKEA hack is a DIY project that takes a piece of furniture, or a product or piece, and upgrades it, changes it, and usually turns it into something else entirely.
For instance, a plain IKEA rolling cart can be spruced up and turned into a Bar Cart. An IKEA lazy susan can be turned into a cheese board. An IKEA spice rack can be turned into an entryway wall storage & key rack.
Use New Hardware to Spruce up IKEA Furniture
Just by adding new hardware, such as knobs and handles, to a piece of IKEA furniture you can spruce it up and upgrade it.
You can also add different legs to a piece of furniture, or add legs were there weren’t any (such as the IKEA Alex Ekby unit..)

Paint Your IKEA Furniture
IKEA furniture can be painted to spruce it up. You can change the color, or turn a plain wooden piece into something completely different looking.
When you are faced with a plain piece of furniture that you want to upgrade or make more expensive looking, always consider painting it as an option.
Not all IKEA furniture is made of wood however, but you can still paint it and upgrade the piece with paint.

Use Contact Paper or Wallpaper to Spruce up IKEA Furniture
Just adding contact paper or even wallpaper to a piece of IKEA furniture can greatly change it.
Covering shelves with contact paper or wallpaper, covering table tops, and more, can spruce up and change a piece into something completely different.
Change the Tops of IKEA Furniture
Changing, or adding new tops to IKEA furniture can greatly change and upgrade it too.
Add a marble top for instance to a wooden unit. Add a wooden top to a laminate piece of IKEA furniture. There are so many ways and options for you to use for this.
Use Wood Stain to Change IKEA Furniture
Wood stain can greatly change IKEA furniture. Many IKEA pieces come in a natural wood shade. But by using a different color wood stain you can completely change the look.
Darker wood stains can make pieces look more vintage and traditional, and can add warmth and interest to a piece.
If you have fallen out of love with your piece of IKEA furniture, you don’t have to just deal with it. You can spruce it up, upgrade it, hack it, and make it look more expensive! Just by being creative and using some tips and suggestions!
