DIY Cane Earring Holder
When you want to keep your earrings easily accessible, but in a lovely stylish way, this DIY project is just what you need. This DIY cane earring holder is stylish, on trend, and will look so pretty in your bedroom!
You need to keep your earrings close to hand and accessible. But it can be hard to find an earring holder that is also so stylish and a work of art in itself!
I have so many of what I used to call ‘dangly earrings’! How to keep those earrings easily to hand, but in a nice attractive way is a big dilemma.
Keeping earrings in a bowl is practical, but so difficult to actually see and find the earrings you need. Hanging them in full display is the best and most convenient option.
This DIY is for a beautiful cane rattan earring holder. It is a really fast and easy DIY project.
This earring holder will display your earrings, so you can see them quickly and easily at a glance when you need them. The entire holder is so pretty and attractive that it will grace any surface and decor in your bedroom!
Cane webbing is a great material to make an earring holder with. Because it has holes already woven into the fabric, these are amazingly useful for hanging things, especially the wire from earrings!

Supplies that you Need for the Cane Earring Holder
Cane Webbing (I used this one)
Photo or picture frame
Small block of wood, or something to place in the back of the holder to stand it up
Cane webbing is pre-woven material from the outer skin of a rattan stalk (a plant). Rattan is used to make baskets and all kinds of products and furniture.
Cane webbing is made by a machine, and is usually sold in rolls. You can purchase a cut of cane webbing from many places. As mentioned above, this is the cane webbing that I purchased for this project.
How to make the Cane Earring Holder
First of all, you need to start with the photo frame or picture frame that you are going to use.
Your photo/picture frame can be whatever size you want it to be. You can also choose a certain finish and color for your frame, or paint a frame to match what you need it for.
Take your frame and remove the back of the frame, and the inside glass. Put the glass aside – you won’t need it again for this project, but you can perhaps re-use it somewhere in your home.
For this DIY project we are only concerned with the outer frame itself.
Place your frame on a flat surface, with the front of the frame face down.
Take your cane webbing, and stretch it out over the back of the frame. You want the webbing to completely cover the back of the frame, and to go onto the back of the frame sides, so that you can staple it in place.
Sometimes when the cane webbing comes rolled up, it still has a slight curve to it. So stretch it out as straight as possible, and if needed hold it down on each side with something heavy.
Take your staple gun, and staple the cane webbing in place to the back of the frame. Make sure the webbing is as tight and straight as possible. You need to avoid any sagging in the webbing.
Turn your frame around and make sure the webbing is attached tightly. Place more staples into the back if needed to straighten it up.
You now have a beautiful earring holder! You can attach something to the back to make it stand upright. I glued a small block of wood (available in craft supply stores) to the back of mine. But you could also mount this on the wall, or even put the back of the frame (with the stand back on) and stand it up again as a frame.
